Handpainted sawdust masks in Cheriyal Scroll style, believed to ward off evil eyes! Tell-Tale cheriyal scrolls were used by bards in olden days to narrate mythological tales, with troops of musicinas, singers, dances and storytellers travelling from village to village, presenting these stories in common grounds usuallly under a tree, it being the common meeting ground of villagers! Masks are made of sawdust and tamarind seeds paste. Eyes and nose are embossed on the core, and the mask is painted when dry.
